Francesco Maria Curá has been immersed in the arts from day one. His father is a noted Italian painter, musician, director, and author. Francesco’s early years were spent performing in plays and television programs - in fact, one of Francesco’s earliest childhood memories is playing the son of Pontius Pilate in grand staged versions of The Passion of The Christ. The annual Carnivale festivities were centralized and organized by his family. Outlandish costumes and decorations of every imagination and color overtook the Cura’ home each year and Francesco was right in the midst of it all. When eccentric nomadic performing artists, famous film directors, or other fellow artists would come to town, they always stayed with the Cura’s. His childhood was a constant buzz of creativity and expression. Francesco began pursuing the visual arts in his early teenage years, working in several mediums from drawing, painting, photography, and even sculpture. He began a rigorous study of art history and eventually graduated from the prestigious Institute of Arts P.Toschi with honors. Francesco strongly embraces and takes ownership of both the production and post-production segments of his creations. His wide range of interests have lead him to capture a most varied array of subjects, concepts and environments - often crossing styles, genres, and boundaries along the way. His hunger for experimentation and his ability to draw on the traditions and conventions of classical theater and painting endow his imagery with a singular and often dramatic voice. |
